2025 January Building Energy Codes and Standards BECS Committee Meeting
The Building Energy Codes and Standards (BECS) Committee represents the interests of the gas industry in the national codes and standards process of model codes groups, and technical standards organizations to promote the continued use and marketability of natural gas downstream of the meter. The Committee also provides input on Federal activities to the AGA Climate and Sustainability Committee. Codes and standards have a significant impact on gas equipment installation costs, competition between gas and other energy sources and systems, and the introduction of new technologically advanced equipment. Reasonable and technically sound codes and standards are essential in promoting the safe and efficient utilization of gas equipment and accessories, and in paving the way for new gas technology that might otherwise meet with code-official resistance.
