Get Ready for Barbeque Season!

  • Wherever you are in the country or the world, we at AGA hope you’re having a beautiful May. Hopefully the weather is gorgeous, you’re able to spend plenty of time outside, and, with good weather, you can open the windows to the fresh air and the sounds of birds chirping away. Now is the perfect time to take care of the Spring Cleaning you’ve been putting off.

A great place to start? Air filters. Did you know that you’re supposed to change the filters in your air vents every ninety days – or more often if you have pets or an older HVAC system? Regularly changing air filters is a fantastic way of improving air quality in your home, filtering out everything from your dog’s no-longer-needed winter coat to pollen.

May is also the unofficial start of barbeque season. If you haven’t used your grilling equipment since last fall, it’s a good idea to make sure that all safety equipment is in working order. Confirm your fire extinguisher doesn’t need to be recharged or replaced (or make sure you have a fire extinguisher to begin with). For indoor cooking, make sure to verify that your kitchen vent is in good working condition. Good weather means it might be worth propping open a window while you cook to increase air flow. And don’t forget about your outdoor spaces –  Make sure the pathways to your fire pit are clear and that the area is free from debris that could catch fire.

Spring Cleaning is a great way to make sure yearly maintenance and inspection gets done on a wide variety of appliances, and to keep your home pleasant and healthy. For everyone doing their own Spring Cleaning this May, enjoy the beautiful weather, clean homes and make sure you’re set up for a safe and fun summer!
