AGA Statement on American Climate Corps
Washington, D.C. – “As the American Climate Corps launches with a goal of employing 20,000 young people to help reduce emissions, it is important to recognize the contribution of the 4.1 million workers on the front lines in the energy industry today,” said AGA president and CEO Karen Harbert. “This strong and talented workforce is helping our nation achieve its energy and environmental goals and deliver life-saving energy to millions of Americans every day. Their work has brought emissions from the natural gas distribution system down 70 percent, is responsible for 60% of all emissions reductions in the power sector and is advancing efforts to deploy low-carbon fuels like hydrogen or RNG and advanced gas energy efficiency technologies. Our industry looks forward to continuing to serve as an essential partner in achieving our shared environmental goals.”
