AGA Filed Comments on EPA’s Proposed Ozone Transport Good Neighbor FIP June 21, 2022
On June 21, 2022, AGA filed a letter with EPA supporting INGAA’s comprehensive comments on EPA’s proposed rule to impose NOx standards on pipeline compressor engines in 23 states under a proposed Federal Implementation Plan (FIP). The EPA proposal aims to reduce emissions in upwind states from electric generating units (EGUs) and certain non-EGUs that the agency asserts relate to difficulties downwind states are having in achieving or maintaining air quality that meets the National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS) for ground-level ozone smog. AGA agrees that the recommendations in INGAA’s comments would help clarify the Proposed Rule and make it more workable and feasible for natural gas pipeline operations. Our comment letter also asks EPA to clarify that the FIP would not apply to gas utility operations.
