AGA Files Comments on EPA’s Draft 2023 Inventory of U.S. Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions and Sinks
On March 17, 2023, AGA filed comments on EPA’s draft 2023 Inventory of U.S. Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions and Sinks. We were pleased the 2023 Draft Inventory shows that methane emissions from gas distribution declined by 70 percent from 1990 through 2021, but we continue to have concerns about the limited and uncertain data EPA is relying on for its nationwide post meter emissions estimate. AGA urged EPA to omit a post meter estimate until better studies and data are available, for the reasons stated in AGA’s comments dated March 17, 2022. AGA also urged EPA to use funding under the Inflation Reduction Act to facilitate the necessary scientific studies.
