AGA Submits Response to PHMSA’s Proposed Revisions to the NPMS Program
On May 13, AGA submitted comments in response to PHMSA’s proposed changes to the National Pipeline Mapping System Program. AGA highlighted PHMSA’s efforts to review and incorporated several of the recommended changes proposed by AGA in 2016. The changes proposed by PHMSA allow operators to focus their efforts and resources on activities and actions that further the goals of increasing safety and reliability of the natural gas system. However, AGA reiterate the need to focus on attributes which enhance pipeline safety, and for sensitive data to be managed securely. AGA also recommended that operators be given additional time to collect data and develop technology to meet the intent of the changes proposed within the NPMS program.
