Supply

• Estimated working gas capacity in underground storage was 4,595 Bcf, with a total deliverability of 115,240 MMcf per day.

• The United States imported 3.0 trillion cubic feet of natural gas in 2022, primarily from Canada.

• The United States exported 6.9 trillion cubic feet of natural gas in 2022, primarily to Mexico and Canada.

Delivery

• The U.S. natural gas industry had 2.75 million miles of pipeline — including distribution, services, transmission, and gathering lines — in place in 2022.

Sales

• Gas utility sales increased 5.8 percent in 2022 to 8,342 trillion Btu.

• Residential sales increased 5.3 percent in 2022 to 4,497 trillion Btu.

• Commercial sales increased 2.6 percent in 2022 to 1,991 trillion Btu.

• Industrial sales increased 8.2 percent in 2022 to 1,186 trillion Btu.

Prices

• The average retail natural gas price increased 17.6 percent in 2022 compared to 2021.

• The average residential price increased 17.5 percent.

• Average commercial prices increased 23.9 percent.

• Average industrial prices increased 34.4 percent.
